Frequently asked questions
Why do I have to sign anything to contribute?
Papra is open source and is also sold under a separate commercial license. The open-source license alone does not give the project the rights it needs to offer that, so every contribution has to come with permission from the person who wrote it. The agreement is that permission, written down once and provable afterwards.
Why do I have to sign for every contribution?
As the agreement is governed by French law, and in France you cannot grant rights for future works, the agreement is written to cover only the contribution you are signing for.
Why does the form ask for my date and place of birth?
Because it is a contract governed by French law and it must identify you as one of its two parties. Your full name and birth details, together with your authenticated GitHub account and verified email, do that.
Do I get a copy of what I signed?
Yes, twice. The PDF is offered for download the moment you have signed, and the same file is emailed to your verified GitHub address, with Papra in copy.
